What is ESAR-VHP? What are the ESAR-VHP questions on the personal information page for? This is a featured page

The Emergency System for Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals (ESAR-VHP) is a federal program to establish and implement guidelines and standards for the registration, credentialing, and deployment of medical professionals in the event of a large scale national emergency. The program is administered under the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness & Response (ASPR) within the Office of Public Health Emergency Preparedness of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. The ESAR-VHP standards are mandated to American states and territories, enabling an enhanced national interstate and intrastate system for using and sharing medical professionals.

The ESAR-VHP standard requires that volunteer medical professionals indicate
  • The geographical area they are willing to be deployed
  • how far they are willing to deployed
  • and if they are willing to be part of a Federal Deployment

These questions are asked during the enrollment phase and can be edited at any time from your personal information page.

The ESAR-VHP unique identifier / identification number is assigned by the state in which you are registered. If the RAPTOR system is not being used as the State Primary ESAR-VHP database the number can be manually entered, along with the users Clincial Code by the agency administrator. These fields are accessed through the Card Printing Selection of the Admin Menu
